Parental alienation frequently has been a hot topic for family law and divorce attorneys in Palm Beach County and throughout Florida. The latest case is centered on a Long Island mother who has been sentenced to six weekends in jail for her intentional attempts to ruin the relationship between her children and their father. Evidence suggested that this estranged ex wife tried to replace her children’s father figure with her new husband through deceitful manipulation, inflexibility, and slander. However, the gravity of the situation came to light when the mother made a false accusation to Child Protection Services of the father sexually abusing the children. I’ve heard of this, though I’ve never come across it in any of my cases. I would definitely take action against a parent who was alienating the other parent. This sort of action, like the post says, only takes a harsh toll on the children and causes undue mental and emotional anguish to both children and the parent who’s being attacked. Shame on a mother to accuse a child’s father of that.
